With a lifelong career in the Heating/Cooling building technology field, Michael is the founder of both Scientific Building Automation and Scientific Air-Conditioning. Scientific is a continuation of a long family tradition. He attained a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology and holds a Tridium Niagara AX Certification as well as a Tridium Niagara N4 Certification. Michael has designed and constructed process chilling and heating systems for clients such as laminators, printing companies, and cosmetics manufacturers. He has also been responsible for service, reliability, and maintenance of millions of square feet of Class A through Class C office space. His recommendations have extended equipment life while reducing operation and maintenance costs.
Education: New Jersey Institute of Technology. Bachelor Science Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering. 1986
Process Systems: Designed and constructed process chilling and heating systems, for clients ranging from printing presses, cosmetics, laminating machines Combined inferred sensors with mixing valves and absorption chilling, to hold press temperature within .25 degree at 6000 sheet per minute.
Commercial Buildings: Responsible for the service, reliability and maintenance of millions of square foot of class A through class C Office space. Extended equipment life, reduced operation and maintenance costs. Through diverse system types, and ages Chilled water, VAV, VVT. Ages from 1950 to new construction. Types of buildings were Data centers, Call Centers, Pharmaceutical Fulfillment and Electronic manufacturing.

Tom is a principal with Scientific Building Automation and Scientific Air, both highly respected NJ control contracting firms. He is a third generation family member working in the HVAC and building controls industry. Tom firmly believes in the power of designing building control systems that enable large energy savings. Tom has a BSEE from NJIT and an MBA from Columbia University. He holds a US patent for a distributed system that monitors flammable gas in refineries and chemical plants. He is an author on multiple trade papers in respected industry magazines. Mike recently authored an article describing a BACnet system installed in a major NYC high rise hotel that was published in the ASHRAE Journal. The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-conditioning Engineers is the premier source of technical and educational information along with setting standards in the HVAC and refrigeration industry.
